The book, that is. Not my power level. That’s around 12.
It’s been a rather productive day as far as the books have been concerned. I got Hungry Mountains edited, got 300-odd words done on The Devil’s Regiment, and discussed the next book cover with my editor/illustrator/wife after taking on some feedback from the folks over at Kboards. Some of the feedback was useful others not as much, but that’s the way of things, I suppose.
Ironically, after the twitchiness I was feeling last night in relation to my book sales, I’ve actually calmed down. That was helped by the fact that I got my first US sale last night. I know its only $0.35, but it actually really boosted my mood up. Of course, unless I get a few more, it will actually cost me more to cash the cheque than it will actually give me money, so I may just stick it on the wall!
Things in general are a bit of a balancing act at the moment. With Bex in hospital I find myself with plenty of free time, but often at a loss of what to do with myself. Writing has really helped with that – for the first time in a long time, I’m writing as much for enjoyment than out of habit. I can;t remember the last time I wrote this much text in this short an amount of time. As it stands, I rocketed through the 9000 word mark, and I’m already on my way to 10k. That leaves me with a minimum of another 10k to do before Hungry Mountains launches in 22 days.
I’ve never been on target to hit a deadline before. I’m not quite sure how to feel about this. Maybe I’m about to go super saiyan.
