Life on the fringe.

I’ll be the first to admit, I had my doubts when it came to indie publishing. When I first got our of university,  the ideas was to find an agent and a traditional publisher for my stories.

I’m becoming increasingly glad I decided to do it this way instead. For one of the first times in my life,  I feel truly in control. To put a slightly grand spin on things,  I’m carving my own destiny.

That’s not to day there aren’t going to be road bumps along the way. At the moment, I’ve pretty much just broken even on my initial costs, and although my free promotion went well for a new book from on unknown author,  I haven’t seen much pick up yet in the paid sales going forward. Indeed,  it all went very quiet after the promotion ended for about ten days or so. I’ve got a couple more promos lining up to boost my profile, so we shall see how things go.

Admittedly the kindle market is s bit odd. I got two sales over the weekend, and both my books rose half a  million places in the rankings.

It’s a sign of the times, I guess.
